27 Random Acts of Kindness

The Christmas season usually puts everyone in a giving mood and is quite exciting. But I believe that no matter the time of the year, we should always be kind to everyone.

I recently saw a video of an Amazon delivery driver dropping off packages to a house and was met with a little goodie basket of snacks and water from the family, along with a sign thanking delivery drivers for their service during this busy season. His reaction was so heartwarming, it reminded me of just how simple random acts of kindness can go a long way and can make anyone’s day.

27 Acts of Kindness

Here is a list of ways to carry out random acts of kindness so you too can make someone’s day!

  1. Say good morning/good afternoon when entering a room. Don’t underestimate the power of a simple greeting. It makes the other person feels valued and seen.
  2. Call someone you care about. Whether you spoke to them yesterday or 6 months ago, a simple phone call to check-in can make their day.
  3. Compliment others.
  4. Volunteer with your favorite charity/organization. Volunteering options are practically endless so choose one that is near and dear to your heart.
  5. Donate clothing. If you’re one of those people who tend to refresh their wardrobe regularly, instead of throwing out clothes that you don’t want anymore, consider donating to a shelter or to a reputable organization.
  6. Check-in on an elderly neighbor.
  7. Hold the door open for someone.
  8. Smile and say hello to everyone you cross paths with. The majority of the time you’ll get a response back and even if you don’t, you would have still have made an impact on them.
  9. Donate blood.
  10. Donate to a GoFundMe. If you have extra money lying around, consider donating to someone’s GoFundMe.
  11. Plan a surprise trip for someone you love. This could be for your spouse, best friend, parents, children, etc.
  12. Send someone flowers for no reason at all.
  13. Donate items that you don’t use at home anymore. We all have things that we have bought over the years that we don’t use anymore that’s just taking up space.
  14. Bring baked goodies to work to share. Everyone likes a good homemade cake or cookies.
  15. Hold the door open for someone.
  16. Send holiday cards to neighbors/friends.
  17. Promote a friend’s business. If you know someone who is looking for services that a friend offers, recommend them to your friend.
  18. Leave a big tip. Especially if you went out to eat. Service workers usually aren’t paid much so a nice tip goes a long way.
  19. Adopt an animal. There are lots of animals who need homes.
  20. Pay for someone’s order in the drive-thru. Leave $50 to pay for the next few customer’s orders in the drive-thru.
  21. Donate money to your favorite cause.
  22. Help someone move.
  23. Help someone who is struggling at work or at school.
  24. Volunteer to babysit. Parents usually need a break or a much-needed date night.
  25. Help someone in need.
  26. Give someone a hug, just because.
  27. Just be kind, ALWAYS!
