The Christmas season usually puts everyone in a giving mood and is quite exciting. But I believe that no matter the time of the year, we should always be kind to everyone.
I recently saw a video of an Amazon delivery driver dropping off packages to a house and was met with a little goodie basket of snacks and water from the family, along with a sign thanking delivery drivers for their service during this busy season. His reaction was so heartwarming, it reminded me of just how simple random acts of kindness can go a long way and can make anyone’s day.

Here is a list of ways to carry out random acts of kindness so you too can make someone’s day!
- Say good morning/good afternoon when entering a room. Don’t underestimate the power of a simple greeting. It makes the other person feels valued and seen.
- Call someone you care about. Whether you spoke to them yesterday or 6 months ago, a simple phone call to check-in can make their day.
- Compliment others.
- Volunteer with your favorite charity/organization. Volunteering options are practically endless so choose one that is near and dear to your heart.
- Donate clothing. If you’re one of those people who tend to refresh their wardrobe regularly, instead of throwing out clothes that you don’t want anymore, consider donating to a shelter or to a reputable organization.
- Check-in on an elderly neighbor.
- Hold the door open for someone.
- Smile and say hello to everyone you cross paths with. The majority of the time you’ll get a response back and even if you don’t, you would have still have made an impact on them.
- Donate blood.
- Donate to a GoFundMe. If you have extra money lying around, consider donating to someone’s GoFundMe.
- Plan a surprise trip for someone you love. This could be for your spouse, best friend, parents, children, etc.
- Send someone flowers for no reason at all.
- Donate items that you don’t use at home anymore. We all have things that we have bought over the years that we don’t use anymore that’s just taking up space.
- Bring baked goodies to work to share. Everyone likes a good homemade cake or cookies.
- Hold the door open for someone.
- Send holiday cards to neighbors/friends.
- Promote a friend’s business. If you know someone who is looking for services that a friend offers, recommend them to your friend.
- Leave a big tip. Especially if you went out to eat. Service workers usually aren’t paid much so a nice tip goes a long way.
- Adopt an animal. There are lots of animals who need homes.
- Pay for someone’s order in the drive-thru. Leave $50 to pay for the next few customer’s orders in the drive-thru.
- Donate money to your favorite cause.
- Help someone move.
- Help someone who is struggling at work or at school.
- Volunteer to babysit. Parents usually need a break or a much-needed date night.
- Help someone in need.
- Give someone a hug, just because.
- Just be kind, ALWAYS!
